Good Morning Men,
I took a little break last week for my birthday and dealing with an injured dog. He’s better now, thankfully!
At the core of every man, is a Battle to Fight, and John Eldredge talks about this extensively. “A man must have a battle to fight, a great mission to his life that involves and yet transcends even home and family.”
As men, we have many battles, and we all share the internal battle with the Natural Man inside of us. The Natural Man is lazy, he lies, he takes shortcuts, and wants all of the success with minimal work. When he is called forward to face his mistakes or fails to show up in his power, he cowers and hides in his fear.
The natural man is also comfortable. He enjoys with great gluttony the spoils of the modern world by over indulging in food, drink, porn, entertainment and gambling. He succumbs to his vices and avoids facing the challenges that impact society and the world around him.
In this way, the natural man is selfish as he puts his own hedonistic pleasure above his greater purpose to have a positive impact on his fellow man. As a result, he will be unhappy, unfulfilled, and alone, experiencing little satisfaction and meaning from his existence.
In what way are you losing to the natural man?
How may you overcome him?
